Standards
A key product of a standardization process is the document containing the agreed and laid down rules of procedure termed "Standard". Such a "Standard" is according to EN 45020 a "document established by consensus and approved by a recognized institution and defines for common and repeated use rules, guidelines or characteristics for activities or their results seeking an optimum degree of order in a given context."
The European standards must be adopted by all members of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and CENELEC in the national standards. The goal is the European wide harmonization of standards and the associated reduction of technical barriers to trade.
Standards according to which the electrical safety testing of test systems, multi tester, surge tester, machine tester or compact tester can be carried out are for example: VDE standard, UL standard, IEC standard, EN standard.
