Line Leakage
Line leakage is described as unwanted current which flows directly to earth from a free of faults circuit via its protective earthing or indirectly via conductive parts as e.g. housings, machine bodies or a person touching the housing. Line leakage is often also termed as body current.
A safety test at electrical devices has, always of course depending on the respective individual test standard, to be completed after the test at an electroless device by means of the line leakage measurement with increased nominal voltage. In case of electro-technical devices only the line leakage test allows to activate internal switching elements.
A line leakage test device from SPS electronic, the specialist for test device, measuring device and test facility thereby simulates the human body. Within series AI 5000 three different methods can be found for same: type AI 5000A prepares its test voltage directly from the network. Device AI 5000P on the other hand uses a safety isolating transformer. As another important feature of the devices the cutting-in has to be mentioned. With the SPS electronic models AI 5001A, AI 5000P and AI 5010D a switching over of the operating mode is realisable any time without the supply voltage of the respective DUT being switched off thereby.
The result of a line leakage test can be directly printed out, saved on a stick or processed within a network.
All safety testers for electrical safety testing of SPS electronic are completely product-specific available as single device or also as system for an automation. These test systems are applied to obtain the VDE standard, the UL standard, the EN standard, the IEC standard or e.g. to determine if CE-conform. Additional measurements are usually absolutely necessary in the production of electrical devices: continuity test, earth bond test, insulation test, high voltage test, impulse winding test and function test.
