The DUTs (Venetian blind-type drive) are guided to the test station in a repetition exact position on a work-piece carrier.

After positioning the work-piece it is hoisted, together with the DUT, with a lift of approx. 170 mm. Due to the vertical movement the DUT is guided into a negative contour arranged above and is thus safely positioned. At the same time the housing contact is effected with this lift.

By a following horizontal movement the electrical and mechanical connections of one side of the DUT are made and during its rotation a coupling is slipped onto the hexagon of the motor shaft.

The sensors for the body sound ranging measurement are started via extra pneumatic cylinders and are, during the VDE test, mechanically uncoupled. All components in the test portal are mounted with a low vibration level so that a consistent body sound ranging measurement can be performed.

At first all of the specified VDE tests like protective conductor test, insulation resistance measurement and high voltage test are performed. If required a continuity test of the motor winding can be performed ahead of the other tests. The electrical function test includes current consumption measurement, active power measurement and active power factor measurement. Then the number of revolutions and the torque are gathered and the efficiency is determined thereof.

A special electronic measuring system measures the braking time of the Venetian blind-type drive.
In order to be able to make a statement on the quality of the bearing and the gear unit a two channel body sound ranging measurement is performed during the function test.
