Hipot Tester, also often called as High Voltage Tester, from SPS electronic enable the hipot test according to all standards from VDE, IEC, etc. With a Hipot Tester it is possible to test the insulation property of electrical products. This electrical safety test is necessary for a product with and without PE conductor. The high voltage test tests the dielectric strength of the insulation of the device. For testing the high voltage, generally it is used the double of the nominal voltage and additional 1000 V - this means when the device is later operated with 230 V, it is tested with minimum 1460 V.

The Ground Bond Tester from SPS electronic enable the PE Test according to many standards (VDE, IEC, etc). This test is often also called as PE Test or PE Resistance Test. The PE Test belongs to the most important tests in the electrical safety testing next to the hipot test, line current test and insulation test. In contrast to the most other test, the PE Test is only necessary for electrical products of the protection class I (with PE conductor). The test is performed to determine whether a possible leakage current in the DUT is discharged correctly to the earth. If the ground conductor is not correct, it may lead to a high contact voltage on metalic parts of the electrical device. For testing the protective conductor connection of electrical devices, is according to IEC 60335, at least a test current of 10 A on each accessible metal part against the PE connection necessary. In general, the test current corresponds to at least 1.5 times of the nominal current.

Insulation Testers from SPS electronic enable the insulation resistance test according to international standards (IEC, VDE, etc.). An Insulation Tester measures the insulation of electrical devices. The insulation test have to be done on protectiion class I(with PE Conductor) as well as II (without PE Conductor). When measuring the insulation resistance usually a test voltage of 500V is used. Isulation Testers of SPS electronic offers a mearsurement range from 100V up to 3000V. With testers from the Series 3801 it is also possible to make a hipot test. Line Leakage Testers verify the leakage current of electrical devices of the protection class I (with PE Conductor) as well as the protection class II (without PE Conductor). During the leakage current test the current is measured, which occurs during an error in the insulation or at the PE conductor connection. The measured values must not exceed limit values, which are fixed in the international standard (IEC, VDE, etc.).
